Hey Dress-lovers,

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending a picturesque vineyard wedding in Charlottesville, Virginia for some dear friends. Their wedding ceremony was on a covered porch, overlooking mountains and sprawling vineyards. I wanted a romantic dress for the occasion and, being annoyingly dramatic (I have nothing to wear), turned to Rent the Runway.

The Review

I had approximately $200 credit from a former unsuccessful rental. In that first rental, I rented two Badgley Mischka dresses and both didn't fit my body.

This time around, I decided to try a brand that I have had past success with. I rented a Nicole Miller and Parker dress.

Delivery: A
On time, dresses did not show up wrinkled, did not smell funky.

Dress Fit: A
Ok, so not a shocker but doesn't look like it does on the model, she is no barometer for fit accuracy. However, the uploaded reviews were very accurate. Reviewers indicated the Nicole Miller ran true to size and the Parker dress was large and needed a belt. Spot on, and I sized accordingly. Further, I felt more comfortable with these dresses having shopped these brands before.

Dress quality: D
Yikes. Here's were things took a turn for the distressed. The Parker dress had a large stain on the front. (pictured below) Fortunately it was navy, but it was still noticeable. Additionally, the bottom of the parker dress had a cigarette burn. Not entirely noticeable, but gross. The Nicole Miller dresses were in poor shape as well. The thin straps were tattered, presumably from others pinning the long straps. Also, the buttons in the back were mangled and one of the loops to fasten the button was dangling. It looked sloppy. I even received a comment from a guy, "looked like your dress had some hard nights before you got it." Embarrassing.

Purse: A
The DVF purse was awesome. Fairly priced, great condition, and cranked up style points for both dresses.

Earrings: D -
The earrings were much larger than anticipated and terribly tacky. They were suited for a bad highschool prom or Miss Teen USA pageant.

Overall: C -
Although the delivery was on time, and the dresses fit well, the dress quality was embarrassing and not worth $200. It would probably be a better use of $200 to shop a high end department store sale and get one dress. However, I loved the purse and would certainly rent it or other accessories again, without hesitation. Minus prom-looking earrings.
