The Island Tourist

Even before the second Sex and the City movie debuted, I relished the idea of the glamorous international tourist. I envisioned visiting a historic city in a long silky printed dress, hair with soft waves and a headwrap, shades, and great accessories. This was a terrible idea for many reasons. Long silky dresses don't hold up to dirt, sweat, or 100 degree weather, hair turns flat and ponytailed, and excessive accessories get in the way of shopping for more accessories. After countless mishaps, I've become a full supporter of practical tourist duds with pops of color. This daytime island tourist outfit is made up of durable shorts/light jeans, a breathable top, basic and useful accessories, and sturdy shoes.

V-neck - J. Crew (on sale plus 25% off), Shorts - American Apparel, Bag - Free People (free with purchase of an item in store), Watch - WeWOOD, Bracelet - Alex and Ani, Shades - Ray Ban, Fedora - H&M
